It is with heavy hearts that we write this pānui for you, our Ōwhata tamariki and whānau. Our dear friend, colleague and brother,Matua Shaun sadly passed away yesterday, Monday 29th April 2019. Our whānau, our kura and our community are deeply saddened by this loss. We know our tamariki are grieving and we are trying to help them through this process at this time and we are in full support of tamariki who will be staying home for the course of this week. Our staff also wish to attend Shaun’s tangi as a whānau on Thursday 2nd May – our school will be closed this THURSDAY 2nd May so that we are able to pay our respects together.
This coming Wednesday 1st May, during the morning (time will beconfirmed via FB/DOJO) Shaun will be making his journey from hishome to Tamatekapua Marae. Our kura will be doing a guard of honour along Brent Road as we farewell Matua Shaun from hishome. You are more than welcome to join us for this part.
We will be ensuring that our staff and tamariki have access to any support and counselling they need at this difficult time.

Ka hoki a Shaun Gossett Douglas ki tōna kāinga ki 38 Scott Ave i tēnei rā, Rārua 30 o Āperira hai te 9:00ata, ki reira takoto ai mō te rā me te pō. Hai te Wenerei, ka kawea ia ki Te Papaiouru marae i te 10:00ata. Ka karakia i te Tāite 2 o Mei i te 11:00ata. Ka tanumia ki Kauae. Shaun Gossett Douglas will be returning to his home at 38 Scott Ave today, Tuesday 30th April at 9:00am where he will remain for the day and night. On Wednesday morning he will be taken to Te Papaiouru marae at 10:00am. Karakia will take place on Thursday 2nd May at 11:00amfollowed by burial at Kauae cemetery.
