Matariki Picnic Celebration 2022

Matariki – A time for whānau, planting, celebrating, renewal and hope.

We celebrate Matariki this year with the acknowledgement of our 1st Matariki Public Holiday.

Ōwhata School will be having a Matariki Picnic Celebration. 

Each class will share an item/theme/waiata/art as decided by each class. Some classes may choose to buddy up and that’s great too! We welcome whānau to join us from 11.30am on the netball turf with a picnic basket and blanket!

The Matariki assembly will be followed by a school picnic on the top field. We will eat our school lunches and have a sausage sizzle for $1 from 12.40pm. All proceeds will go towards 50 sets of new poi for our kura.

We will run lunchtime games and encourage all of our tamariki to participate and have fun!

Date of event: 22nd June 2022.

If the weather isn’t great, we have a postponement date of 23rd June 2022.

Time: 11.30am – 1.30pm.
